William @ TP

Dr William Tan is an accomplished sportsman who contracted polio at the age of two and was paralysed waist down. Despite his physical disability, he has shown outstanding strength at overcoming adversities. Not only did he excel in his studies by winning scholarships at prestigious universities namely Oxford and Harvard Universities, he has also participated in many international wheelchair marathons.

Coming next year, Dr William Tan will be in Temasek Polytechnic from 5th January 2006 6pm to 6th January 2006 6pm to attempt to register a Guinness World Record through a 24-hour hand cycling feat at our Sport Stadium. This is an entirely new experience for him because until now, Dr tan has been clocking in world records on wheelchair.

You are invited to jog for 1km with Dr William Tan on 5th-6th Jan 2006, at any 1 hour time slots from 6pm on the 5th to 6pm on the 6th. As we would like to go as a LOM group, the preferred time is on 6th Jan 2006, at 4pm.

In conjunction with his 24-hour feat round the track, Dr Tan will be delivering a motivational talk on 4th january 2006, at 2 time slots of 1.30pm-2.30pm or 4.15pm-5.15pm.

More details will be out soon.

Community work

On the 3^rd December 2005, 11 LOM students participated in the year end 2^nd hand book sales carnival, organized by the Salvation Army. Although we had to trudge all the way to Serangoon Road on an early Saturday morning, we felt privileged to be volunteers in this event. Its sole purpose was to raise funds for various organizations, which included childrens' homes and elderly centers. The sales of book for the 2 days totaled up to $925. Besides, we learnt some useful entrepreneurial skills, such as decision making and pricing of goods.

If you would like to purchase 2^nd hand goods such as books, clothes or even electronic items, feel free to drop by the Salvation Army Family Thrift Store, at:

309 Upper Serangoon Road Singapore 347693 (near Potong Pasir MRT station)
Telephone: 6288 5438 Fax: 6288 4506
Operating hours: 10.00am - 6.00pm, Mon - Sat

Course Option (23 November to 25 November2005)

In conjunction with the streaming of course option for the year 1 BSG students, the LIG publicity team had put up a "mini" exhibition for our diploma, in front of LT 21 over 3 days. Our hard work paid off and our interesting board attracted numerous curious stares and inquisitive questions from our freshies.

Lom Day (19 September 2005)- Main Organiser: Events Comm!

Lom Day' 05 kicked off successfully on the 19 September 2005. This year, the theme was based on a popular crime scene investigation game, Cluedo. LOM students have to put on their thinking caps and trace out the reason of the murder mystery and who the murderers are based on all the fixed and mobile clues that they gathered in business school. One of the highlights was the scary looking walking ghosts who were wandering around. After the "murder" game, there was a mass game conducted, which was meant to dress up the lecturers using special materials such as garbage bags. The winners were the group who dressed up our course manager, Mr Jimmy Yeo, who pulled off a "Xu Chun Mei" effortlessly.

*Most importantly, both Lom juniors and seniors had tremendous fun getting back at our lecturers.. Oops...

Here are some pics to enjoy
